Thank You Jimmy Choo

Just learned Jimmy Choo is making my light-up shoe dreams come true.

When I was a kid in the early ’90s, light-up sneakers were all the rage on the playground. Unfortunately that was one bandwagon I never got to jump on. When I went to my local Stride Rite, the sneakers weren’t being sold anymore. Apparently they could cause mercury poisoning if the light broke.

Years later they figured out a way to make light-up sneakers without endangering the kindergarten set, but at that point they weren’t in my size. For years I’ve envied children running by me with their light up sneakers.

Almost two decades later, Jimmy Choo has solved my shoe envy. These new Jimmy Choo Zap Sandals light up as you dance. For just under $2,500 they can be mine! Now how does a soon-to-be college grad make $2,500?

Meet Shari Baldie, GRAE New York's Resident Girl About Town. In 2009 Shari created GRAE New York out of spring break boredom. Finding inspiration in everything from music and style to art and culture, GRAE New York is a digital magazine of her lifestyle and influences. When she’s not writing or being a girl about town, Shari spends her time (unsuccessfully) convincing native New Yorkers that her Westchester hometown is not “upstate." It’s an ongoing battle.
