Catch a Vibe, Volume 3

Whether you choose to stay cozy indoors or venture out in the snow-covered streets, you’ll need a soundtrack for your winter. Enter Catch a Vibe, Volume 3.

GRAE New York Catch a Vibe Volume 3

Before they kick off New Year’s in Vegas, Major Lazer kicks off our playlist with the Bad Royale collab My Number. Sampling the Toots & the Maytals classic 54-46 (That’s My Number), the track instantly puts us in a reggae state of mind.

LA-based Midnight to Monaco keeps the good vibes going with their dance-pop single One in a Million, while songstresses Sevdaliza and Sabrina Claudio bring the sexy with their singles TIME and Tell Me.

First-time Grammy nominee Mike Posner has been sporting green hair lately for his new project mansionz with writer/producer blackbear. If you’ve ever dealt with an ex that won’t stop contacting you, their single stfu is your new anthem. Famed DJ Samantha Ronson also has a new group called Ocean Park Standoff with fellow LA-based artists Pete Nappi and Ethan Thompson. Their single Photos & Liquor is alt-pop perfection.

There’s just something about Ohio-based rappers and this V3 playlist. First up is Cousin Vinny with the personal and relatable track From You. When we officially relaunch GRAE in 2017, we’ll be featuring him in our On the Record series. Next up is EST’s own DUB-O with Call My Phone which we cleverly placed after mansionz’s stfu. Lastly we have the EST President himself, Machine Gun Kelly. How could we not include him and Camila Cabello‘s chart-topping single Bad Things on V3. Recently the song went gold, and it’s well on its way to platinum. Just to show you his range (and give you good vibes only), we’ve also included MGK’s acoustic cover of Everlong with Tillie as well as the fun Sublime (remiXX) with Mod Sun.

Clocking in at a little over 2 hours, V3 gives you plenty of diverse music to add to your own playlists. Let us know which track is your favorite. If you have any suggestions for Catch a Vibe, Volume 4, email us at shari@graenewyork.com.

Meet Shari Baldie, GRAE New York's Resident Girl About Town. In 2009 Shari created GRAE New York out of spring break boredom. Finding inspiration in everything from music and style to art and culture, GRAE New York is a digital magazine of her lifestyle and influences. When she’s not writing or being a girl about town, Shari spends her time (unsuccessfully) convincing native New Yorkers that her Westchester hometown is not “upstate." It’s an ongoing battle.
