Diplo Debuts ‘California’ EP

Wesley Pentz, better known by his DJ moniker Diplo, has released his new EP California just in time for festival season.

California is a bit of a departure from the global-inspired electronic rhythms Diplo has become known for in the past few years. OG fans will recognize the similarities to his 2004 debut project Florida.

Like his debut, Diplo’s latest release is sonically inspired by his location. As the EP kicks off with Worry No More, the hazy synths put listeners in a West Coast mindset.

Always one to embrace and contribute to youth culture, Diplo continues to give newer artists a platform. This time around he links up with a crop of young rappers and artists including Lil Yachty, Lil Xan, Trippie Redd, DRAM, and Desiigner. He’s also joined by longtime friends and collaborators like Santigold, , and GoldLink

Thematically California is highly aspirational. Those going after their dreams can appreciate lyrics like “I’m gonna be the star on the scene” and “They can try to hold me down, but I am, I’m gonna get it right.”

The feel-good energy and relatability of California make it a great soundtrack to get you through the day. Add it to your rotation on Apple Music and Spotify.
